The Tools & Techniques class will begin with tools used for making jewelry, including names and uses: jewelry saw, needle files, pliers, cutters, hammers, mallets, tweezers and tongs. Participants will learn about soldering and the use of the acetylene torch used in soldering silver. Simple stone setting, cabochons setting in silver bezels. Participants will view assorted semi precious stones for consideration in jewelry, metal surface embellishments, hammering, forming, stamping, repousse and riveting. Then participants will learn about polishing and finishing ready to be worn jewelry. Basic tools and equipment will be provided. Participants may purchase the following materials in class: Jewelers Saw 4” Saw Blades 2’0 Needle Files Assortment of Metals Semi Precious Stones Participants are strongly encouraged to talk with the instructor before purchasing personal tools, equipment and materials. All skill levels; can be tailored to intermediate to advanced levels. Ages 14+.
