Join Garden staff for a different nature-themed story reading each Friday in June and July starting at 10:30 a.m. Story times will be held in the shaded Tree Fort in the Children's Discovery Garden, or if inclement weather, in the Garden's Mabee Grange building. Parents must accompany children. Free with admission. June is the month for celebrating nature! June 1: We'll celebrate National Trails Day with a story followed by a walking stick activity. June 8: It's National Get Outdoors Day - after the story take a walk around the Lake. June 15: As we start National Pollinator Week, we'll share a story on butterflies. June 22: To finish National Pollinator Week - we'll learn about hummingbirds June 29: Plants that eat bugs! We'll explore carnivorous plants and take a look at the ones living in our Children's Discovery Garden. In July, we'll have special guest readers! July 6: Tulsa City County Library staff and the Bookmobile will visit and read our story! July 13: Author Mary Anne Lewis will read her book, Hayden's Moonbath, when a boy discovers the wonders of nature at night. July 20: Educator and author Cindi Hemm will share one of her favorite stories. Cindi is current superintendent of Avant Public Schools and former principal of Eugene Field Elementary in Tulsa Public Schools July 27: Betty Selakovich Casey, children's book author and illustrator and editor of TulsaKids magazine, will read her newest picture book, The Prince of the Prairie, about a little buffalo and the friendships he forms with other prairie animals.
