Aug. 1-30, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and during Chapman Music Hall events Award-winning professional artist Christine Maeda highlights the beauty of the desert in this collection of paintings. A realist, her style combines fine art and art deco with bright colors that bring a sense of movement to her subjects. Maeda is self-taught and continually growing her talents. She holds a degree in psychology, but has studied art and art techniques all her life and began to paint just over a decade ago. Her works have been featured in many publications, shows and galleries, and she currently has two children’s books published. By studying the old masters, she has learned to use layers of light and to capture expressions and features unique to the subject matter she paints. She enjoys giving the audience viewing her paintings something to think about, to wonder what the subjects are quietly saying.
