DING, DING, DING, DING... ROUND FOUR OF #POETSvsRAPPERS IS ON! Who has the dopest lyrics, the most clever wit, and the sweetest delivery? The audience (YOU) will be the judge of that! 10 Poets and 10 Rappers will put the LIT in verbal literature at #LivingArts of #Tulsa (307 E. Brady Tulsa, OK 74120) on Saturday July 14, 2018! *DOORS OPEN at 7pm (COME EARLY to get a good parking space and to peruse the fabulous multi-media artwork). *THE BATTLE BEGINS at 8pm sharp. *Only $10 in advance at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/poets-vs-rappers-tickets-47521887244 (until 5pm on July 13th); $12 at the door; free to Living Arts members; contestants in the competition pay a $5 entry fee. *Hosted by the curator, Phetote Mshairi representing #TeamPoets and Maylin Kaye is reppin' #TeamRappers. DJ Ed will be rocking the sounds and keeping the party going! **In Poets vs Rappers⁴, the artists are battling for $350 in CA$H prizes ($200 1st place...$100 2nd place...$50 3rd place); and the title of "The Tightest"! There are only 20 slots available (10 Poets, 10 Rappers). If you or someone you know has what it takes to take the top prizes and the title, you can inbox the curator/host Phetote Mshairi BY JULY 1, 2018 to enter. (Slots are already filling up fast!) The Rappers took the first battle...Poets took the second & third battles... now who's gonna spyt dope vengeance and take the Poets vs Rappers⁴ title?? **RULES & GUIDELINES for Poets vs Rappers⁴: *3 rounds... *Up to 2 minutes of your own ORIGINAL WORK... *The only censorship is NO RACIAL OR SEXUAL ORIENTATION EPITHETS, or you'll be disqualified from the competition... *Poets & Rappers will draw numbers (1-10) from two different hats (a Poet hat and a Rapper hat). The corresponding drawn numbers will compete against each other. (Example: the Rapper who drew 1 will go against the Poet who drew 1...the Rapper who drew 2 will go against the Poet who drew 2...and so on up to 10.) *In the first round, 1 Poet and 1 Rapper will stand face to face on the stage and battle each other with their own original pieces that are up to 2 MINUTES each. (A coin flip will determine the order.) *After each round, the audience will decide the winner by applause/noise. (Winner advances to the next round; the person not chosen becomes part of the audience.) *The second round will consist of the winners from round 1. Poets & Rappers will draw numbers (1-5) from two different hats. The corresponding drawn numbers will compete against each other. (Example: the Rapper who drew 1 will go against the Poet who drew 1...the Rapper who drew 2 will go against the Poet who drew 2...and so on up to 5.) In the event of an uneven ratio of Poets to Rappers, a Poet may compete against another Poet; or a Rapper may compete against another Rapper. The audience will choose the winner of each battle. *The final 5 winners will advance to the third/final round; the person not chosen becomes part of the audience. *The remaining 5 Artists will draw numbers to get the order of performance... *After all remaining Artist have performed their own original work, the audience will choose the top 3 Artists by applause. Then the audience will choose the order of winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners) by applause/noise. *The 1st place winner will receive $200 and the title of "The Tightest"; the 2nd place winner will receive $100; the 3rd place winner will receive $50.
