Captured black men were marched off Main Street onto Second Street in downtown Tulsa with their hands up in surrender. As the riot wound down and blacks surrendered, they were given green cards - also known as American Red Cross Refugee Cards - to be signed by a white person willing to vouch for them.

As featured in "Tulsa's Historic Greenwood District" written by Hannibal Johnson and published by Arcadia Publishing, best known for its iconic "Images of America" series, which chronicles the history of small towns and downtowns across the country.
